Scouts
Scouting, is a worldwide youth movement with the stated aim of supporting young people in their physical, mental and spiritual development, so that they may play constructive roles in society. The aims of scouting are clearly stated but can be basically sumarised as providing an opportunity for young people to develop, to learn by doing and to have FUN!! Scouting is an adveturous program for any young person aged between 11 and 14 and a half years old in which the members develop skills, earn Badges and awards, and have fun in the outdoors through hiking and camping, all designed to help guide them as they move towards good citizenship.
Sea Scouts
Sea Scouts are members of the International Scouting movement, with a particular emphasis on water-based activities, such as kayaking, canoeing, sailing and rowing. Sea Scouts provides a chance to sail, cruise on boat, learn navigation, learn how to work on engines. Sea Scouts emphasizes on sea activities such as canoeing,diving, swimming and sailing. The Sea Scouts programme is a bit more intense where other nautical knowledge is covered such as the parts of a boat, capsize drill of a craft, types ofcrafts, we also practice some boat maintenance, anchoring, buoyage, practice distress signal and the use of Marine VHF and also the rules of the road at sea.
The Malta Sea Scout programme is being formulated with the help of the Scout Commisioner Dr. Kevin Camilleri and the Sea Scout Commisioner Capt. Reuben Lanfranco.
